Gypsy Water
The romance of the Romany life, the travelling peoples of Europe and especially of Italy where the Gorham family kept a villa in the Ligurian countryside – the gypsy women would wash their laundry at the river’s edge, Ben thrilled by their strangeness, their barbaric splendour, the women with golden coins in their hair and ears, speaking in their own exotic secret tongue.
GYPSY WATER mingles scents of the Italian campagna with echoes of the Near East: tart juniper berries, pepper, pine needles and bergamot freshen a sumptuous base of amber, vanilla, orris and sandalwood. The smell of a lost childhood, of a vanishing race.
